Miracles lose a hreatbreaker to the Rainmen

(Moncton, NB) The Moncton Miracles lost a heartbreaker to the Halifax Rainmen in their exhibition game 106-108.


The Miracles had a full house tonight and the fans once again acted as a 6th man to their squad. After an exciting twenty-four minutes of play the Miracles held on to a 56-49 lead over the Rainmen at the half.


Halifax came out strong in the third quarter and scored 40 points to Moncton’s 27 to finish the quarter with a 89-83 lead. The Miracles had their work cut out for them going into the final quarter. 


With 18.1 seconds left to play in the game Miracles Coach Serge Langis called a timeout. The players took the floor and Troy Brewer managed to get a shot off. It went up, hit the shot clock on top of the net, and dropped in. The fans went nuts assuming it had counted, but the refs called it off because of it having touched the shot clock. With no time left in the game the Miracles lost 106-108 in their first game of the season.


Miracles had six players score in double digits. Matt Hunter led the way for the Miracles with 14 points while Stanley Robinson and Tyler Murray both netted 13 points a piece.


Mike Martin was the force for the Rainmen with 24 points. Seyia Ando dropped 18 points and Brandon McGee had 15.


The Miracles travel to Saint John on Wednesday, October 29th to take on the Mill Rats in their second exhibition game. The Miracles Home Opener is scheduled for Saturday, November 1stagainst the Saint John Mill Rats. Tip-off is 7pm at the Moncton Coliseum. Wear your orange and bring your noisemakers and show Saint John that Miracles Nation is the best team in the 506 area code.
