Miracles Lose in Overtime to the Storm

The Moncton Miracles lost a battle in overtime to the Island Storm with a final score of 112-117 in front of 1,189 fans.

 

The Miracles started the game strong knocking down shots and were able to take an early 7-0 lead over the Storm. The Island squad would eventually tie it up but not for long. Moncton was on a clear mission and would finish the quarter with a 30-24 advantage.

 

Stanley Robinson was a force to be reckoned with in the first half leading his Miracles squad with 16 points and 7 rebounds. With everyone contributing at both ends of the floor they were able to push their lead to 58-48 at the end of the first twenty-four minutes of play.

 

The Miracles came out in the third quarter continuing strong and maintaining a lead.  At the end of the third the Miracles led 83-74, the Storm however had no intention of giving up and would give a final push.  Moncton led for 42 minutes of play.

 

Storm’s Brandon Robinson stole the ball in the Miracles frontcourt and tied the game up at 98-98. With 32.1 seconds left the Island called a time-out with the game now tied at 101-101. When the buzzer went at the end of regulation, Shawn Vanzant managed to get a shot up for the Miracles which didn’t drop and the game remained tied up and would go into overtime.

 

The Storm would dominate the five extra minutes of play and end the game on top securing a 117-112 win.

 

Trayvon Lathan was scratched for the game as he suffered a second-degree upper calf strain at Monday’s practice. Lathan is day to day.

 

Stanley Robinson dominated the court with 22 points and a whopping 13 rebounds to record another double double this season. Tramar Sutherland dropped 18 points and Darryl Smith added in with a double double as well with 13 points and 12 rebounds. The Miracles ended with seven players scoring in the double digits.

 

Brandon Robinson led the way for Storm with 24 points and 13 rebounds while Sammy Zeglinski had 21 points and added in with 11 assists.

 

The Miracles next home game is scheduled for Sunday, November 23rd against the Halifax Rainmen. Tip-off is 2pm at the Moncton Coliseum.  It is Youth Sport Jersey Day, all youth that wear a jersey to the game will receive a discounted ticket for only $5!
